Not your perfect makeup tutorial …

I have to say one of the hardest parts of being quadriplegic would be not having use of my hands. Honestly, I would want my hands back before anything else. Finally figuring out how to do some things on my own has been a huge accomplishment for me. Being a girl & not able to get yourself ready can really affect your mood and ability to keep a positive attitude.( Like I said.. I was depressed for years! )So when I finally decided to take the time to figure things out for myself, my attitude drastically improved. I’m not able to say I do many things on my own, so when I can it’s a really good feeling! Before my accident I didn’t even know what a spinal cord injury was, so i definitely had no idea what someone with SCI had to battle mentally and physically every day. I have to make a choice to stay positive every single day. If you wanted to you could talk yourself out of doing anything because you chose to see the negative side of things. When I do my makeup I get paint from the brushes in my mouth alllll theee timeeee! It takes a while for me to open everything, I look kinda funny doing it, and it’s pretty much a workout for me. BUT I do it because it makes me feel good about myself again. You know the feeling of when you’re in school and you have a test coming up… You really don’t want to study for it, but if you do, and you make a good grade it feels so rewarding?! That’s the best way I can explain how I feel relearning to do things in my situation. Life takes patience and a lot of it! You just have to stay optimistic (:

I believe everyone just wants to be seen for who they are.. Not by what they can or can’t do. If I could be completely independent, trust me, I would! One of the best principles to live your life by is, “Always treat others the way you want to be treated.” You never know when you could be in a similar situation.
